Locks come in many different shapes, sizes and types.  From pin and tumbler locks, to mechanical combination locks, to electronic locks which use a digital input to allow entry.

Rekey Vs Replace

Did you know that for most locks, the key can be changed without replacing the entire lock.  It's true.  With most locks, a locksmith can clear out the old key pattern, and set the lock to a new key pattern.  Often locksmiths refer to this a "rekeying" a lock.  Depending on the type of lock this is, it can be done in a few different manners.   Often this approach is more cost effective than replacing all of the existing hardware.
